PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubbing member that achieves low-resistant rubbing property with a contact target member as well as suppresses chipping.SOLUTION: A rubbing member for image formation is disposed to rub a contact target member while contacting the member in at least an image forming apparatus; and the rubbing member includes a substrate 4 that comprises a resin overall and has a carbon-containing region 4B containing carbon having an sp3 bond at a contact side with the contact target member and a region 4A other than the carbon-containing region 4B, composed of the same material. The rubbing member satisfies the following requirement (A) or (B). (A) The carbon-containing region 4B constitutes a contact part with the contact target member. (B) On a surface of the carbon-containing region 4B at the contact side with the contact target member, a carbon layer 6 containing no resin but containing carbon having an sp3 bond is further formed, and the carbon layer 6 constitutes a contact part with the contact target member. |
