<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress secondary transfer failure in a configuration in which a rotating body for applying belt drive force of a transfer belt supports pressing force of a transfer member.SOLUTION: A transfer device includes: a transfer belt 52 for holding a toner image primarily transferred from an image holding body 42; a rotating body 56 that comes into contact with the transfer belt 52, rotates about a self axis, and revolvingly moves the transfer belt 52; and a transfer member 58 that is disposed at an opposite side of the rotating body 56 with respect to the transfer belt 52, presses a medium P to be conveyed to cause the medium P to come into contact with the transfer belt 52, and secondarily transfers the toner image to the medium P. When T is a tension per unit length in the self axis direction of the rotating body 56 in a revolving movement direction R2 of the transfer belt 52, F is the pressing force of the rotating body 56 for pressing the medium P per unit length in the self axis direction thereof, and d is a diameter of the rotating body 56, the transfer device satisfies the following expressions: T+0.8×F>120 and T<5.8×d.</p> |
