PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a cavitation caused at a seat surface tip when a valve element collides with a seat part.SOLUTION: A high pressure fuel pump for pressurizing liquid and sending the same from a low pressure side to a high pressure side comprises: a valve element 201 which, in a relief passage for relieving high pressure liquid from the high pressure side to the low pressure side, is opened and closed by a high/low difference in pressure between the high pressure side and the low pressure side; an elastic member 203 biasing the valve element; and a seat part 204 sealing fuel upon engagement with the valve element. The seat part is elastically deformable when colliding with the valve element. A seat surface tip 208 on the inner peripheral side of the seat part is formed in a curve shape, and thereby generation of cavitation bubbles are suppressed at the seat surface tip when the valve element collides with the seat part. |
