A method for controlling a wearable device and the wearable device are provided. The method for controlling a wearable device comprises the steps of: determining whether a sensor included in the wearable device has been activated; controlling a contact degree control unit, which can adjust the degree of contact between the sensor and the body of a wearer, on the basis of whether the sensor has been activated; and sensing a bio-signal through the sensor.
