[Problem] To provide a voltage controlled oscillator the output frequency of which can be controlled with high accuracy. [Solution] An oscillator is configured to comprise a former-stage side voltage divider, a latter-stage side voltage divider, and an oscillation unit. The former-stage side voltage divider includes: a first resistor connected between a first potential source and a second potential source; and a first output terminal, an output voltage to be derived from the first output terminal being variable because the position of connection of the first output terminal to the first resistor is made variable. The latter-stage side voltage divider includes: a second resistor connected between the first output terminal and a third potential source; and a second output terminal, an output voltage to be derived from the second output terminal being variable because the position of connection of the second output terminal to the second resistor is made variable. The oscillation unit includes a variable capacitance element the capacitance of which varies in accordance with the output voltage from the second output terminal, and the output frequency of the oscillation unit varies on the basis of the variation of the resonance point depending on the variation of the capacitance. This configuration can cause the resonance point to finely vary at multiple levels, thereby controlling the output frequency with high accuracy. |
