The guide wire is provided with a wire body on the front end of which is a front end tapered section in which the outer diameter decreases gradually towards the front. At least one site of the guide wire behind the front end tapered section is provided with a functional section that is more easily reshapeable and has higher contrast imaging properties than sections before and after said site. The wire body also comprises a constant outer diameter section, which is provided contiguous to the back end of the front end tapered section and in which the outer diameter is constant along the longitudinal direction, and a back end tapered section, which is provided contiguous to the back end of the constant outer diameter section and in which the outer diameter increases gradually towards the back. The functional section is configured from: a reshaping section in which the areas in front and in back of the boundary between the constant outer diameter section and the back end tapered section are reshapeable; and a contrast imaging part, which is provided by being wound on the outer circumference of the reshaping section and has contrast imaging properties. |
