An electrode array (105) is disclosed which is suitable for biological implants. The array comprises a first insulating layer, a first plurality of electrical traces, a second insulating layer, a second plurality of electrical traces and a third insulating layer, wherein when any first trace of the first plurality of electrical traces is overlapped by any second trace of the second plurality of electrical traces, the first trace and the second trace run overlapping in parallel for a portion of their respective lengths.
