Disclosed are a method and system for authenticating biological characteristics of a user. The method for authenticating biological characteristics of a user comprises: a client transmitting an authentication request to a server; the client receiving a voice password from the server; the client collecting voice information of a to-be-authenticated user and collecting a human face image of the to-be-authenticated user; the client determining whether the voice information and the voice password are the same and determining whether the human face image is valid; when the determining results are yes, the client associating a voice information segment with the human face image; the client calculating digest values of the voice password, the voice information, a target image, association information, and a first moment by using preset algorithms; the client transmitting authentication content to the server; and the client receiving an authentication response from the server. The present invention solves the problem that a manner for identifying and authenticating biological characteristics in the prior art is single, thereby achieving an effect of improving identity authentication security during an identification process by using biological characteristics.
