PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of reducing power consumption of a recording and playback apparatus connected to a display unit.SOLUTION: A TV set 10 includes: means that, when instructing a recorder 20 for execution of video recording to stop video recording, displays a predetermined dialogue including an inquiry to a user relating to the recorder 20; and a command processing section 130 that transits the recorder 20 to a second operation mode of low power consumption in response to a user operation on the dialogue.
