A dielectric barrier discharge plasma coil assembly 104 suitable for treating air, for example inactivating pathogens and pollutants. The coil comprises a cylindrical inner mesh electrode 408, a cylindrical outer mesh electrode 307 and a cylindrical dielectric separator 306. An insulating stand (Fig. 2, 101) at each of the first and second ends of the cylindrical coil 104 is configured for mounting the cylindrical coil 104 in an elevated position. When a voltage is supplied to the inner and outer meshes electrodes 408, 307 a plasma is discharged from the outer mesh electrode 307. The assembly can be placed within a conduit (fig. 6, 610) in the passage of air flow to be treated (612). |
