[Class 39 (i)] A disc-shaped anode for X-ray tubes, preferably for rotary anode tubes, comprises two or more discs each made from a metal or alloy having a melting point above 2000‹ C., the surface of impact for the electrons consisting of tungsten. The anode may comprise a tungsten disc 1 mounted on a disc 2 of a metal which is more ductile or which has a higher specfic heat, such as molybdenum. The tungstem may be 0.1-0.3 mms. thick and the molybdenum at least 5 mms. The direction of the fibres may be different in each disc. In another form, Fig. 1 (not shown), the anode comprises two equal discs of tungsten. |
