<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device in which a cover part is easily attached and detached, the cover part is hardly removed from a housing, and the appearance can be further simplified. <P>SOLUTION: A portable electronic device comprises: a housing; a cover part attachable and detachable to and from the housing, and forming a water-proof space between itself and the housing when being attached to the housing; and a connecting member disposed in the housing on the outside of the water-proof space, for connecting the cover part in a state attachable and detachable to and from the housing. The cover part is connected to the connecting member in a state forming a space in the boundary portion with the housing enabling a specific portion of the connecting member to be touched from the outside. The connecting member includes an engaging part with the cover part at a position to be deformed when the specific portion is pressed from the outside.
