The present invention is an image formation process which comprises curing an actinic-radiation-curable ink that contains a gelling agent, additionally applying another actinic-radiation-curable ink, and then curing this ink and by which the affinity of the additionally applied actinic-radiation-curable ink can be improved. An image formation process which comprises conducting, successively, a first step for applying a first ink which comprises a coloring material, a gelling agent, a photopolymerizable compound and a photoinitiator to a recording medium, a second step for irradiating the first ink with actinic radiation to cure and fix the first ink, a third step for additionally applying a second ink which comprises a photopolymerizable compound and a photoinitiator, and a fourth step for irradiating the second ink with actinic radiation, wherein: the content of the gelling agent in the first ink is 0.5 to 5.0mass% relative to the total mass of the ink; the second ink contains a gelling agent in an amount of less than 5.0mass% relative to the total mass of the ink; and the fourth step is conducted in such a state that the cured and fixed first ink has been heated or is being heated. |
