The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a connecting rod for connecting the piston of a vehicle engine to the pin of a crankshaft and, more specifically, to a method for manufacturing a connecting rod using semi-closed sinter-forging, comprising: a first step of placing the metallic powder of sinter materials in a closed die and molding a preliminary molded object using an ordinary molding press; a second step of sintering the molded preliminary molded object by heating the molded object; a third step of manufacturing a forged product by conducting the semi-closed forging of the sintered preliminary molded object; a fourth step of cooling the manufactured forged product at room temperature; a fifth step of removing flash from the cooled forged product via a punching process; and a sixth step of manufacturing a connecting rod via shot blast treatment to remove foreign materials existing on the surface of the forged product having the flash removed therefrom. Accordingly, production costs can be reduced compared with a traditionally used hot forging method or sinter-forging method, and connecting rods with excellent mechanical properties such as yield strength and tensile strength can be obtained as final forged products by ensuring the same metal flow as the metal flow of connecting rods manufactured using hot forging. |
