PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring steel wire material extremely excellent in fatigue characteristics.SOLUTION: The spring steel wire material has a chemical component composition adjusted appropriately, an average composition of oxide-based inclusion having a diameter of a minor axis existing on a cross section parallel to a longer direction of the steel material of 1 μm or more satisfies, by mass%, CaO:0 to 35%, AlO:0 to 40%, SiO:30 to 95%, MgO:0 to 8%, MnO:0 to 5%, TiO:3 to 10% and CaO+AlO+SiO+MgO+MnO+TiO≥80% and the number of the oxide inclusion having the diameter of the minor axis existing on the cross section parallel to the longer direction of the steel material of 2 μm or more satisfies over 0.002/mm. |
