PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device with enhanced dustproofness and an optical disc device equipped with the same.SOLUTION: An optical pickup device 10 is provided with a through-hole part 55 penetrating a housing 12 in the thickness direction, and provided with an opening part 58 that is opened in a cover 56 at a position where the opening is superposed on the through-hole part 55. Therefore, the opening 58 and the through-hole part 55 together form a penetration area 42 penetrating the optical pickup device. As an air current containing dust is thereby made to pass mainly through the penetration area 42, in no case does a large amount of dust enter the interior of the optical pickup device 10, and a special case of degradation caused by dust is suppressed.
