The present invention relates to a radar unit for detecting an object under the ground and a method for detecting the same, which minimizes the error rate in detecting an object buried under the ground. The radar unit of the embodiment of the present invention comprises: a transmission antenna for transmitting a detection signal to the ground surface; a plurality of receiving antennas for receiving reflected signals from an object buried under the ground by a detection signal; an environment analyzing unit for using the characteristics of each reflected signal received from the receiving antennas to identify the environmental characteristics where the detection of the object buried under the ground is conducted; and a signal processing control unit for processing the first reflected signal and second reflected signal according to the environmental characteristics to create a detection image.
