Knitting needle for knitting machines

The needle (10) has a needle shaft (1) provided with a needle hook, and a drive base (3) arranged at an upper side of the needle for moving the needle. The drive base is arranged at an end of the needle, where the end is provided opposite to the needle hook. The drive base is moved from a lower position into a lifted position or from the lifted position into a lowered position. The needle shaft comprises an edge guide (5) for limiting motion of the drive base in motion directions of the drive base. The edge guide is arranged at a bracket (4) of the needle shaft.
