A polymer, comprising: a polymer according to the structure:wherein each occurrence of R1 and R2 is independently C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, or aryl; X is O, S, (YR1R2)x, or (CRaRb)x wherein x is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, and Ra and Rb are independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, or C1-C12 haloalkyl; each occurrence of Y is independently Si, Ge, Sn, or Pb; m is about 3 or greater; p is about 5 or greater; and Ar is a heteroaryl having the general structure (I), (II), and (III):wherein Q1 is S or O; and R3 is hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; a hetero aryl having the general structure (IV):wherein each occurrence of Q1 is independently S or O; Q2 is S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; and each occurrence of R3 is hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; a hetero aryl having the general structure (V):wherein Q2 is S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; each occurrence of Q3 is N; and each occurrence of R3 is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; a heteroaryl having the general structure (X):wherein each occurrence of Q2 is independently S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; and each occurrence of R3 is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; a heteroaryl having the general structure (XI):wherein each occurrence of Q2 is independently S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; Q4 is C(R3)2, S, O, or N—R4; and each occurrence of R3 is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; a heteroaryl having the general structure (XII):wherein each occurrence of Q2 is independently S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; and E is O or C(R7)2, wherein each occurrence of R7 is an electron withdrawing group; a heteroaryl having the general structure (XIII):wherein each occurrence of Q1 is independently S or O; each occurrence of Q2 is independently S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; and each occurrence of R3 is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; a hetero aryl having the general structure (XV):wherein each occurrence of Q3 is independently CH2, S, or O; each occurrence of Q2 is independently S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; each occurrence of R3 is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; and each occurrence of R5 is hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, or cyano; a hetero aryl having the general structure (XVII):wherein each occurrence of Q1 is independently S or O; each occurrence of Q2 is independently S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; each occurrence of R3 is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl; and represents an aryl; a heteroaryl having the general structure (XVIII):wherein each occurrence of Q1 is independently S or O; each occurrence of Q2 is independently S, O, or N—R4 wherein R4 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl; Q4 is C(R3)2, S, O, or N—R4; and each occurrence of R3 is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C1-C12 haloalkyl, C1-C12 alkoxy, C1-C12 haloalkoxy, aryl, —C1-C6 alkyl-O—C1-C6 alkyl, or —C1-C6 alkyl-O-aryl;
