selecting a first entry in the address resolution protocol cache table; determining if the first entry is within a refresh window; if the first entry is within the refresh window, determining if less than a maximum idle time has elapsed since the first entry was accessed for address resolution; and if less than the maximum idle time has elapsed, transmitting a resolution request.
