PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission which can set a two-digit number of speeds of a forward transmission without making λ-values of planetary gear mechanisms too large or too small.SOLUTION: An automatic transmission comprises an input shaft, first to fourth planetary gear mechanisms, and a plurality of engagement mechanisms, in which the third and fourth planetary gear mechanisms are configured by connecting two rotary elements, forming a composite planetary gear mechanism comprising first to fourth rotary elements. The plurality of engagement mechanisms comprise first to third clutches and first to fourth brakes. The λ-value of each of the planetary gear mechanisms is adjusted by setting a connection relation among the rotary elements and a connection relation among the plurality of engagement mechanisms to predetermined relations. |
