Provided is a pneumatic tire configured so that the wet performance, the dry performance, and the resistance to uneven wear are improved in a well-balanced manner. This pneumatic tire is adapted to be mounted to a vehicle in a specific direction. The tread is provided with a first main groove and a second main groove, which extend in the circumferential direction of the tire. The distance (GL1) of the first main groove is set to be 6% or less of the ground contact half width (TL/2). The distance (GL2) of the second main groove is set to be in the range of 40% to 65% of the ground contact half width (TL/2). The tread has defined thereon first ribs, second ribs, and third ribs and has provided therein: first lug grooves located between the ground contact end which faces the inside of the vehicle and the second main groove and each having opposite ends closed; second lug grooves each having one end connecting to the second main groove and each also having the other end closed; third lug grooves each having one end connecting to the first main groove and each also having the other end closed; fourth lug grooves located between the ground contact end which faces the outside of the vehicle and the first main groove and each having opposite ends closed; and fifth lug grooves located between the ground contact end which faces the outside of the vehicle and the fourth lug grooves and each having opposite ends closed. |
