PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader that allows an influence of a jamming magnetic field to be more effectively given to a skimming magnetic head.SOLUTION: In a card reader 1, jamming magnetic field generation means 10 comprises a first jamming magnetic field generation unit 11 and second jamming magnetic field generation unit 12 that are disposed so as to sandwich a card passage channel 6 in a thickness direction of a card 2. The first jamming magnetic field generation unit 11 comprises: a core 14; and a coil 15, and the second jamming magnetic field generation unit 12 comprises: a core 16; and a coil 17. In the card reader 1, when viewed from a width direction of the card 2, as a first virtual line L1 orthogonal to a first end surface 14a of the core 14 and a second virtual line L2 orthogonal to a second edge surface 16a of the core 16 head toward a forward side (X2-direction side), the first virtual lines L1 and L2 tilt so as to mutually come closer, and the cores 14 and 16 are disposed so that the first virtual lines L1 and L2 cross at a location deviated from a passage location of the card 2 further than a card insertion inlet 3 and in the thickness direction of the card 2. |
