PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding support device capable of safely raising and lowering a wheelchair by performing stable motor control based on load from the wheelchair. ! SOLUTION: A riding support device 1 includes a support mechanism 11, a motor 12, a motor rotation speed detection part 13, a voltage detection part 14, and a motor control part 15. The motor control part 15 determines that failure occurs in a wheelchair 200 getting on and off a vehicle 100 if fluctuation in a voltage of a battery 103 is within a predetermined range when rotation speed of the motor 12 fluctuates while the support mechanism 11 is being driven, and performs failure avoidance control processing for avoiding the failure (Step S506). If fluctuation in a voltage of the battery 103 is out of a predetermined range, the motor 12 is driven at a duty ratio at which the rotation speed of the motor 12 becomes target rotation speed. !
