A hot and cold water purifier having an energy-saving function is disclosed. The hot and cold water purifier having the energy-saving function comprises: a usage pattern learning unit to sense whether a hot and a cold water purifier is used by a user, storing contents of use and analyzing a usage pattern by a user based on the contents of use stored for a predetermined period of time or more; a human body sensor unit attached or embedded on a front surface of the hot and cold water purifier to sense a human body present within the preset distance to the hot and cold purifier; and a mode control unit to control an operation mode of the hot and cold water purifier based a result of a human body sensed by the human body sensor unit and a usage pattern of a user analyzed by the usage pattern learning unit.
