<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber structure for painting and a paint roller having excellent painting performance, specifically a fiber structure for painting and a paint roller maintaining excellent painting performance even for highly viscous paint and paint containing pigment of comparatively large particles. <P>SOLUTION: The fiber structure for painting includes a fiber layer for painting 11 arranged on at least one surface of a ground weave 12, and the fiber layer for painting 11 includes crinkle fiber. The fiber layer for painting 11 is formed using a number of special composite yarns 14 erected from the ground weave 12, the special composite yarns 14 are obtained by twisting plural finished yarns, and the finished yarns are obtained by spinning while imparting mountains 17a and valleys 17b by crinkling of filaments 17. The special composite yarn 14 includes an untwisted section 20b on the distal end side.
