An optical switching node (2) in a multi-core fiber (4) network, comprising:
- an input section for receiving spatially multiplexed optical signals, each optical signal comprising wavelengths multiplexed optical packets,
- a controller (13) adapted to receive the control data of each wavelength multiplexed optical packets,
- an output section for transmitting spatially multiplexed optical signals in a second multi-core optical fiber,
- an optical transit section adapted to selectively pass optical packets from the input section to the output section, wherein the optical transit section comprises:
- a spatial demultiplexing section,
- an optical gate (14);
- a spatial multiplexing section (15), the optical gate being adapted for receiving at least one optical packet (18) of one of the wavelength multiplexed optical packets, and
wherein the controller is adapted to configure the optical gate in one of a blocking state and a passing state as ± function of the control data. |
