This optical-power monitoring device (1) contains the following: a low-refractive-index-resin layer (20) that encloses a join point where optical fibers (F1, F2) are joined together and a prescribed region of one of said optical fibers (F1) extending from said join point; a high-refractive-index-resin layer (21) that encloses a region of the other optical fiber (F2) that is not enclosed by the low-refractive-index-resin layer (20); and an output-light detector (16) positioned at the forward-light output-side end of the low-refractive-index-resin layer (20) or at a point on the forward-light output side of said end. |
