The present invention relates to a display apparatus and a control method thereof. According to the present invention, the display apparatus comprises: a camera including an image sensor which senses an image transmitted through lens, installed at an upper part of the display apparatus to be moved vertically, and moved upwards and protruding to the outside of the display apparatus during the use; an image processing unit for processing an image signal corresponding to the image sensed in the image sensor; a display unit for displaying the processed image signal as the image; a sensing unit for sensing the vertical movement of the camera; a power supply unit for supplying power to each component of the display apparatus; and a control unit for controlling the power supply unit to allow the power of the display apparatus to be turned-on when the sensing unit senses the protrusion of the camera in a state that the power of the display apparatus is turned-off, and controlling the image processing unit to display a preview screen corresponding to the image inputted through the camera on the display unit. Accordingly, the display apparatus can be simply turned-on or off by a camera push, improve the accessibility for utilization of the display apparatus and the camera, and enhance the convenience of a user.
