PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the observation of more objects in a sample with a smaller number of hierarchical images in an image display device for displaying hierarchical images obtained by imaging a sample at a plurality of different focal distances.SOLUTION: An image processor includes acquisition means for acquiring a plurality of hierarchical images obtained by focusing on each of a plurality of hierarchies having different positions in a depth direction of a sample including a plurality of objects to image each of the plurality of hierarchies, detection means for detecting a hierarchy with an object existing and an existence area in a plane perpendicular to the depth direction about each object on the basis of the plurality of hierarchical images, and generation means for generating a hierarchical image of each hierarchy of the sample from the plurality of hierarchical images in the case of moving the position of the object in the sample on the basis of the hierarchy with each object existing and the existence area in the plane. The generation means generates a hierarchical image in the case of moving an object so as to reduce the number of hierarchies with the object existing in the sample.
