PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic image tracking apparatus in which a wide-angle image and a telescopic image of a matched optical axis can be simultaneously captured by a single imaging section and an object subjected to tracking can be surely captured by the telescopic image.SOLUTION: An automatic image tracking apparatus includes: an imaging optical system 12 formed from a central optical system of a wide-angle optical system and an annular optical system of a telescopic optical system which are disposed on a common optical axis; a directional sensor 17 for pupil-dividing and selectively receiving light fluxes incident via the wide-angle optical system and the telescopic optical system, respectively; a panning/tilting mechanism 32; an object detection section 50 for detecting an object subjected to tracking on the basis of at least a wide-angle image between the wide-angle image and a telescopic image captured from the directional sensor 17 by an image capturing section 22; and a panning/tilting control section 60 for controlling the panning/tilting mechanism 32 on the basis of positional information, in the image, of the object detected by the object detection section 50. |
