PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical display device that bonds an optical member to a liquid crystal panel with high position accuracy to enable high-quality image display.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an optical display device that bonds an optical member 1 including a phase difference layer formed by belt-like extension of a plurality of first areas and a plurality of second areas in a plan view to a liquid crystal panel having a plurality of pixel columns includes: a determination step of determining a central line C3 of a width direction of the first area centrally positioned in a direction in which the phase difference layer crosses a display area of the liquid crystal panel in a planarly overlapping portion, in at least one end portion and a central portion in an extending direction of the phase difference layer; and a bonding step of bonding the optical member 1 to the liquid crystal panel, on the basis of a relative position between the central line C3 in the central portion and the pixel column centered in a crossing direction of the liquid crystal panel and centrally positioned.
