PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting composition having photo-aligning property, from which an alignment layer excellent in a liquid crystal aligning ability and adhesiveness to a liquid crystal layer can be formed, and an alignment layer, a substrate with an alignment layer, a retardation plate, and a device using the above composition.SOLUTION: The thermosetting composition having photo-aligning property comprises a copolymer having a photo-aligning structural unit represented by formula (1) and a thermally crosslinkable structural unit.
