PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical signal receiver that can suppress power consumption more greatly than prior arts.SOLUTION: An optical signal receiver 12 for receiving an optical signal superimposed on illumination light from an illumination device 11 has a light receiver 20 for receiving the optical signal, and a controller 22 for controlling the light receiver 20 on the basis of the received optical signal to operate the optical signal receiver 12 according to at least one of an intermittent reception mode for intermittently receiving the optical signal and a continuous reception mode of continuously receiving the optical signal. The intermittent reception mode has an optical signal non-irradiation phase of detecting the variation of a state that the optical signal does not arrive at the optical signal receiver 12 to a state that the optical signal arrives, and an optical signal irradiation phase of determining whether repetitively transmitted frames are frames representing the same information under the state that the optical signal arrives at the optical signal receiver 12.
