PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a magnetic refrigeration device which is small in the pressure loss of a heat exchange medium, and advantageous for downsizing because of a high packing rate of a magnetic refrigeration material; and a magnetic refrigeration system using such a magnetic refrigeration device.SOLUTION: A magnetic refrigeration device comprises: a La(Fe,Si)13 type magnetic refrigeration material having a main phase of a spherical Gd-based or NaZn13 type crystalline structure. The magnetic refrigeration device taking a sintered compact form having communicating holes is obtained by sintering the magnetic refrigeration material. The packing rate of the magnetic refrigeration material is 75% or more and 90% or less.
