PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which noise or the like can be converted into synthesized musical instrument sounds.SOLUTION: A sound converting method comprises: a step of acquiring sound signals; a step of generating unit approximated sound signals closely resembling sound signals resulting from cutting out the acquired sound signals by unit time by an evolutionary computation method using predetermined basic sound, classified by waveform type; and a step of generating sound signals closely resembling the acquired sound signals.
