A mounting section which is mounted to the rod side is provided on one axial end side of a protective cover (13). At least the other axial end side of the protective cover (13) has reduced-diameter sections (67) which have a diameter decreasing toward the front end of the other end and expanded-diameter sections (68) which have a diameter increasing toward the front end of the other end, the reduced-diameter sections (67) and the expanded-diameter sections (68) being alternately formed in the axial direction with small-diameter sections (66) arranged therebetween. The end surface (13b) of the protective cover (13), which is located on the other end side, is constituted by a surface corresponding to a surface obtained by cutting the protective cover (13) at a position outside the small-diameter sections (66). The end surface (13b) and the outer peripheral surface (25a) of the cylinder (11) are located at positions where the end surface (13b) and the outer peripheral surface (25a) do not come into contact with each other in the radial direction while the small-diameter section (66) located closest to the end surface (13b) is in contact with the outer peripheral surface (25a) of the cylinder (11). |
