PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a recording medium having high image concentration of dye ink, a uniform mat surface, and high yield.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a recording medium including the steps of providing a first ink receiving layer on at least one side of a substrate, and providing a second ink receiving layer containing pigment having an average secondary particle diameter of 1.5 μm or more and 5.0 μm or less as an outermost surface layer on the first ink receiving layer. In the step of providing the second ink receiving layer, the following conditions (1) and (2) are satisfied. (1) A wet coating weight of the second ink receiving layer is 150% or less with respect to a 60 second Cobb value according to JIS P8140 of an aggregate of the first ink receiving layer and the substrate, and (2) a dry coating weight of the second ink receiving layer is 2 g/mor more and 5 g/mor less. |
