<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device that can improve the accuracy in recognizing a vehicle even in a region where the edge intensity is reduced when a proximity image is detected. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle detection device 1 includes: a gray-scaling part 3 that converts a picked-up image of an area surrounding an own vehicle to grayscale; an edge processing part 4 that performs edge processing on the grayscale picked-up image with a filter; a vehicle image segmentation part 5 that segments a vehicle image showing the features of the vehicle in the picked-up image after the edge processing; a vehicle image division part 6 that divides the segmented vehicle image into a plurality of vertical division regions; an edge addition part 7 that adds the edge intensity on the upper pixel row to that on each pixel row composing the division regions; and a vehicle recognition part 8 that recognizes the presence/absence of the vehicle by comparing the edge intensity on the pixel rows comprising the division regions with a predetermined threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
