<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an outboard motor which protects a gear mechanism by properly controlling an operation of an internal combustion engine depending on an amount of wear debris of the gear mechanism and which prevents the gear mechanism from being damaged by the wear debris. <P>SOLUTION: The control device of the outboard motor which includes the gear mechanism for transmitting a driving force of the internal combustion engine to a propeller, detects an amount of wear debris of the gear mechanism (S10) and performs at least either an engine output suppressing operation for suppressing an output of the internal combustion engine or an upper-limit rotation frequency change operation for changing an upper-limit rotation frequency of the internal combustion engine to a second upper-limit rotation frequency smaller than the upper-limit rotation frequency depending on a detected amount of wear debris (S18 and S20). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
