<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in an energy saving mode by suppressing power consumption in the time required for error eliminating work or the like. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 shifts to the energy saving mode in which it works by suppressing the power consumption further than in a normal operation mode when detecting an error of the apparatus. The image forming apparatus 100 includes: a low power display means (operation part controller 17, and LCD unit 15 or the like) that causes a display part (LCD panel 20) to display with lower power than in normal operation in the energy saving mode; a determination means (main MPU 1 or the like) that detects an error and determines functions to be usable based on the content of the error; and a control means (operation part controller 17, and main MPU 1 or the like) that uses the low power display means to cause the display part to selectably display the content of the error and the functions determined to be usable by the determination means, in the energy saving mode, and that restores the apparatus to the normal operation mode when any of the functions which are determined to be usable and are displayed on the display part, is selected and predetermined operation is performed in relation to the function to be usable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
