<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce movement of a foreign material to the surface of an image holding body while simplifying the configuration of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus (U) comprises: a charging component (CR) for charging the surface of an image holding body (PR); a latent image forming device (ROS) for forming a latent image; a development device (G) having a developer holding body (Ga) to which development voltage (V<SB POS="POST">b</SB>) moving a developer with respect to the latent image is applied from a power source (Ea1); and development voltage control means (C3A) which, when image forming operation is interrupted on the way and rotation of the image holding body (PR) is stopped, stops application of the development voltage (V<SB POS="POST">b</SB>) at least after resumption of the rotation and before the surface of the image holding body (PR) charged after the resumption reaches a development area (Q2), and makes the developer holding body (Ga) to be in a state that change in potential is free and sets the potential of the developer holding body (Ga) to a potential according to the charge potential of the surface of the image holding body (PR) passing on the development area (Q2). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
