The present invention relates to a method for ameliorating a saliency map. A method for generating a saliency map of the present invention includes: a step for converting a red-green-blue (RGB) image having a background region into a grayscale image when the image is inputted; a step for determining the background region from the converted grayscale image; a step for generating a fist saliency map from the inputted RGB image; and a step for generating a second saliency map using a position of the background region on the fist saliency map. According to the present invention, the performance of a saliency map is enhanced and ameliorated by generating the saliency map using a background image.
