Provided in the present invention are an ester compound of chemical formula 1 for a plasticizer, and a preparation method thereof. The novel ester compound according to the present invention is environmentally-friendly or non-phthalate, when being used in a resin composition, and provides excellent physical properties such as not only tensile strength and elongation, but anti-translocation and heating loss.
