The present invention relates to dielectric fluids and esters, particularly to ester compositions suitable for use in dielectric fluid compositions as well as to dielectric fluid compositions, methods of manufacturing ester compositions and dielectric fluid compositions, and to electrical apparatus containing the dielectric fluids.

1. A dielectric fluid composition comprising:
(I) an ester composition, wherein the ester composition comprises esters of: (a) one or more alcohols; and (b) three or more C4 to C12 carboxylic acids wherein at least one of said acids is selected from the group consisting of: (i) a branched C8 to C12 acid wherein said acid comprises a backbone having no branching at the C2 position; (ii) a branched C4 to C7 acid; and (iii) a branched C8 to C12 acid wherein said acid comprises a backbone having branching at the C3 position; and (II) one or more additives.
