DIAGNOSIS OF AN AIR CONTROL VALVE OF A PARTICULATE FILTER SYSTEM IN A VEHICLE WITH AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A system for testing the air control valve (ACV) of a particulate filter system includes a filter controller connected to the particulate filter system, a vehicular computer configured to determine at least one engine condition (engine rotational speed, RPM). The filter controller is configured to control a condition of the ACV and the vehicule computer is operatively connected to the filter controller to communicate therewith. The vehicular computer compares the condition of the ACV with the engine condition (RPM) to determine whether the component of the particulate filter system is functioning properly.
