<p>A tourniquet (20, 220, 320, 420) for application to a patient's limb (T) in an emergency situation, and a method for application of the tourniquet. The tourniquet includes a tension- sensing mechanism (26, 100) used to establish a baseline tension in a loop around an injured limb, and a tension-increasing mechanism (58, 108, 120, 140, 160) to tighten the tourniquet (20, 220, 320, 420) as required beyond the baseline tension.</p> |
