PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key system capable of accurately determining that a terminal having an NFC communication section for transmitting an authentication ID has been left in a cabin.SOLUTION: A vehicle electronic key system transmitting and receiving an authentication ID by NFC communication with a smartphone 200 includes: an outside-vehicle NFC communication section 10; a Bluetooth communication section 30 installed in an inside of a vehicle; an outside-vehicle authentication section 41 for determining whether or not authentication is valid based on the authentication ID acquired from the smartphone 200 by the outside-vehicle NFC communication section 10; and an inside-vehicle communication determination section 42 for determining whether or not communication can be performed by the Bluetooth communication section 30 based on the fact that the authentification is determined to be valid by the outside-vehicle authentication section 41. The inside-vehicle communication determination section 42 determines whether communication is possible or not in the state that a communication area in which the Bluetooth communication section 30 can perform communication is narrower in the vehicle outside section than in the vehicle inside section and is wider than a communication area by NFC communication.
