PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can improve the efficiency of use of light.SOLUTION: An image display device 1000 scans a micro-lens array (scan target surface element 8) including a plurality of micro-lenses with a laser beam modulated on the basis of image information to form an image, makes the laser beam transmitted through the micro-lens array incident on a transmission reflection member (reflection surface element 10), and makes a virtual image of the image visually recognized from a predetermined observation position on an optical path of the laser beam reflected on the transmission reflection member. The curvature of each of the plurality of micro-lenses is set on the basis of the length of the optical path of the laser beam between the micro-lenses and the observation position. In this case, the efficiency of use of light can be improved.
