Provided is an LCD device (1) equipped with: a chassis (2); a cover panel (3) covering the front surface of the chassis (2); a liquid crystal panel (5) positioned to the rear surface side of the cover panel (3), the liquid crystal panel (5) having an active area (A) of smaller surface area than the cover panel (3); and a backlight (7) for illuminating the liquid crystal panel (5) from the rear surface side, wherein a transparent or translucent light transmission body (6) is integrally molded onto the rear surface side of the liquid crystal panel (5) in the chassis (2), and a backlight frame (7a) is attached for retaining the backlight (7) at the rear surface side of the light transmission body (6). The active area of the liquid crystal panel in the LCD device can thereby be expanded and further narrowing of the frame achieved. |
